"Yoga is a holistic approach"

Around 2,000 years ago sage Patanjali drafted Yoga Sutras , which consist of 196 sutras. The whole concept of Yoga comprises of eight stages viz. Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.

Through the practice of Yoga, man is made aware of the interdependence of all things in the entire universe. Yoga is the union of the body, mind, emotions and the intellect. Nothing can be taken in isolation. This sense of oneness of all things is the 'union' implied in the word Yoga.

Yoga consists of physical and mental disciplines that make us healthy, alert and happy transforming our perception of the world and the way we live in it.

Yoga is not only a preventive against disease but also a cure where disease has already crept in. Yoga techniques are in no way antagonistic to modern medicine. They are a powerful adjunct, an ally, in the cure of disease.

Yoga is the science of health. To experience good health, positive changes have to be brought about at the very root, in our dietary habits, in our methods of recreation, our behavior and our thoughts and attitudes.

Yoga strengthens and tones muscle, improves balance and flexibility and increases blood flow and vitality. It is also a great way to reduce stress. Researchers at Harvard Medical School found that yoga lowers chemicals in the blood stream associated with anxiety and triggers other physiological relaxation responses, such as reducing muscle tension and lowering heart rate.
